Obituary
Carmela “Carm” Maria Kneeland (nee Doyle) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday September 20, 2021, at the Church of St. John-St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on December 15, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Louis Doyle.
Carm is survived by her only child, Valerie Richards, of Saint John along with her loving grandchildren, Kevin (Amy), Karen (Dennis), Mark (Farrah), and Sean Patrick; her great-grandchildren, Robyn, Payton, Cole, Maya, Kate, Thomas, Emma, and Kian, all of whom affectionately called her “Gran-Nan”. She is also survived by her niece, Mary Ann Kneeland, and nephew, John Kneeland along with her grandniece and grandnephews.. Carm was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Bernard William Kneeland; her sister, Eleanor; her son-in-law, Peter Daniel Richards and her grandnepher, Tim Kneeland. Carm worked at Baird and Peters, Zellers, and Irving Oil- Golden Ball, from where she retired after 36 years of service. She was a lifelong member of the former St. Peters Church where she was a loyal member of the CWL for over 60 years. She loved all family gatherings and never missed celebrating special occasions and holidays. She also enjoyed crocheting afghans for her grandchildren. Carm was an avid bridge player who belonged to the Silver Thread Bridge Group.

Carm is resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for family only please. To be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Due to the current pandemic and public health restrictions, all family members are asked to provide proof of vaccinations and to please wear your mask. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carm’s memory can be made to the Diabetes Association of Canada or to the SPCA.
