Calvin Allen MacLeod-Obituary
Age 86 Dartmouth, June 10th, 2021. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Calvin MacLeod. He grew up in Bell River, P.E.I.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Christina and Timothy Young, his parents Lydia and Foster MacLeod, sister Susan McKinley. He leaves behind his beloved wife Stella of 66 years, daughters Mary (Jim), Sharon (John), sons Dale (Diane), Brian (Joan), John (Brenda), Blair, and Kevin (Anne), twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In his early years, he worked as a Seaman on ships, the Lady Laurie and Edward Cornwallis. With a young and growing family, he decided to work closer to home. He worked for 28 years with the Dartmouth School Board as a caretaker for Park School, Prince Authur School and Mount Edward School. He also worked as an exterior and interior painter.
Calvin enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. His hobbies included fishing, being in nature, gardening and listening to old country music. He loved teaching all his children and grandchildren how to fish and how to enjoy being in nature. Calvin was always there to help out his family, friends and neighbours. He was also a story teller who told wonderful stories about growing up on a farm in rural PEI and stories of going to sea and sailing to the North. Calvin will always be remembered for his warm smile and wonderful sense of humor. He was a kind and gentle giant of a man.
The family would like to thank all the staff on the 4th floor of Ocean View Continuing Care for their compassion and great care of Calvin.
Cremation has taken place under the care of the Dartmouth Funeral Home. Due to Covid restrictions, funeral services will be held at a later date.
