Burley LeRoy Brooks 19402021 avis de deces

Burley LeRoy Brooks
1940-2021
With both a heavy heart at our loss, and a grateful heart
knowing he is in a better place, the family would like to share the
passing of Burley Leroy Brooks on October 15, 2021, at the age of 81.
We take comfort in knowing he is at peace after battling lymphoma.
Burley was born in Bristol, NB to the late Clarence and Annie (Waugh)
Brooks.
Burley was predeceased by his first wife Sharon (Foster) and
second wife Audrey (Doherty) as well as brothers Hugh and Gerald, and
stepdaughter Janet Shaw.
Burley is survived by his son Chris and wife Cindy Wood of
Stratford, PE; son Darrell and wife Karen of Florenceville, NB, their
daughter Jerika of Tampa, FL; son Carl and partner Jennifer Janssens
of Newcastle, ON; daughter Sarah and partner Elvis Lint of Glassville,
NB, her children Data, Brandon, and Jacie; sister Edna Hill of Saint
John, as well as his extended Foster family including inlaws, nieces
and nephews.
Burley is also survived by Audrey’s family
including stepchildren Jennifer, Jeff (Beth) and Joella, step
grandchildren Joey (Lindsay and their daughter Abby), Jordan (Cecily
and their 2 daughters), Zac (Natasha and their 2 daughters), Aaron,
Jessica (her father Brent), Ben, Hunter and Ashton.
Father, Dad, Grampie, Burley was known by all as a kind and
gentle man. He looked for the best in everyone and everything and
appreciated the simple things in life. Father’s life spanned
81 years, and he spent those years in his beloved Carleton County. He
was born here, lived and worked here. His work life began on the
railroad, then it was onto McCains where he received training and
attended night school to become an electrician. For several years
before his retirement in 1998, he enjoyed the task of Gatehouse
Security with McCains. It was a dream job for him as it allowed him to
converse with anyone and everyone that ventured in and out of the
plant, most especially the truckers.
Father’s life away from work included ponies,
ponies and more ponies. The family hobby farm in Mt. Pleasant included
other animals such as cows and goats, but only ponies followed him to
the house in Lansdowne. Not being able to care for ponies any longer
was one of the hardest parts of aging for Father, but he hung onto
bridles, reins, and even an old fencer … just in case!
Father also devoted many years of his life to humans by fostering 30+
children with Mother. They had the love, patience, and strength to
open their home to children in need. That tells you a lot about the
kind of man Father was.
Our sincerest appreciation is extended to the amazing nursing
staff of 2 North and 2 East at the Upper River Valley Hospital where
he spent the past 6+ months. Many of those nurses provided amazing and
compassionate care to Father during his time there. He spoke often of
the care they provided to him, and his kind gentle nature endeared him
to the staff. We know they will miss him too.
We would like to welcome the public to visitation Monday,
Oct. 18 from 5-7 at The Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland.
The funeral, also open to the public, will be Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 1:00
(also at Britton’s) with the internment to follow at the
Lansdowne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated
for the Lansdowne Cemetery Fund.
*Please note ~ anyone attending visitation, or the funeral,
must be fully vaccinated and be prepared to show proof of vaccination
status as per provincial guidelines. www.brittonfh.ca.
