Born in Haileybury December 8, 1948 to the late Basil Ruddy and to the late Verina McPhee, Bruce is the loving husband of Kathleen (nee Kean); loving father of Natalie Ruddy (Patrick) and Malcolm ‘Mac’ Ruddy (Ginette). He is the cherished grandfather of Chase Poirier, Carson, Brett and Abigail Ruddy, Mackenzie and Jacob Beaulac, Makenna and Ella Bourton ; loving brother of Judy Pasich (Joe), Penny Danard (Bob), Peggy Reid (Donny), Chris Ruddy, Mike Ruddy (Carmen) and Cathy Warren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Bruce is predeceased by his parents; his brother Robert Ruddy and by his sister Myrna Coe.
Many will remember Bruce for his love of fishing, hunting, and his years of volunteering as a minor hockey/baseball coach. Bruce was an avid sportsman, spending everyday he could in nature. Everyone knew “Bruce’s stretch of the river” and he was on it every chance he got. Bruce also loved kids and kids loved him, Bruce would spend hours teasing and playing with them at every family function, giving them all individual nicknames. If you knew Bruce you will also remember how welcoming he was to everyone, how he always would help anyone that needed it and do it with a big Bruce smile and some teasing of course.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. A Celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at the family residence, 79 Cross Lake Road, North Cobalt, on Saturday October 23, 2021 beginning at 1:00pm.
