Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our precious Brightstar Anne Young. Brightstar arrived in the arms of Creator on Sunday May 2, 2021 at the age of 37 years. Brightstar was born on June 25, 1983 in Calgary, Alberta. She was a member of the Siksika Nation and took pride in her Nation. In her early years, Brightstar attended Chief Old Sun Elementary where she was crowned the first “Miss Kookona”. Later one in her High School years she attended Siksika Nation High School where she ran for “Miss Siksika” and successfully won the title. Brightstar was fluent in Blackfoot and loved to bead. She was an athlete and loved to play Volleyball. She was a humorous character and was loved by many. She will be remembered for her contagious personality and her famous saying “We got this”. Brightstar is survived by her daughters Harlee McMaster, Ann McMaster, and her spouse Durante McMaster; also by her Brothers Wesley, Sheldon, and Troy. Her Adopted mother Grace Young, adopted sisters Stacey Strikes With A Gun, Denise Young (Tracey), and Bonnie Young; also her special dad Pete. Brightstar had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Brightstar was predeceased by her mother Nellie, her adopted mother Constance Young, her sister Tracy, her nephews Troy Jr and Tyrone. The family apologizes for not including everyone or for anyone they have missed as Brightstar had so many relatives and loved ones.
Wake Services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 6 pm to 12 am at the residence of Denise and Tracey in Siksika. On Friday, May 7, 2021, there will be a viewing at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika) from 10 am to 12 pm and the Funeral Service will commence at 1 pm.
A-Zoom link will be shared by the family on Facebook for those who cannot attend.
As per Covid restrictions, please be advised that there is a limited amount of attendees for the funeral and immediate family will have priority.
Please refrain from attending any services if you are required to be under isolation, or have been in contact with a potential Covid case. Please be mindful of our elders and the immediate family who may have underlying health issues.
