Obituary of Bridget Mary Butterly
BRIDGET MARY (FAGAN) BUTTERLY
December 28, 1933 – March 30, 2021
On her 88th journey around the sun, James “Seamus” Butterly and Michelle Butterly sadly announce the peaceful passing of their beloved mother Bridget Mary (Fagan) Butterly on March 30, 2021 at Western’s University Hospital.
Born in Dublin, Ireland to Mary and Tony Fagan, Bridget was the eldest daughter of 11 children. She was an award-winning Irish dancer who danced her way into the hearts of anyone who met her. She emigrated to Canada in 1958 and started a successful business that she worked and cultivated for over 55 years in London, Ontario. She was a pioneering and gracious woman her entire life – “A true lady”
Bridget will be greatly missed by her loved ones and family, especially by John Humston, Carl Hanstke, Maisie (Fagan) and Herb Casey, Thomas and Kay Fagan, Anthony and Josephine Fagan, Pauline (Fagan) and Jim Fleetwood.
Per her wishes, Bridget will be laid next to her cherished mother Mary Fagan in the St Patrick’s section of St Peter’s Cemetery on Saturday, April 10 at 11am. Those who wish to pay their final respects are invited to come and give her a heartfelt Irish send-off. Covid restrictions will apply – masks and physical distancing.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Parkinson’s Foundation (parkinson.ca). The entire family wish to thank the amazing palliative care team at University Hospital who took amazing care of her during her final days.
A Celebration of Life for our Irish lass will be planned when we can all safely gather again.
“We’ll meet again, Don’t know where, Don’t know when; But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day…” — Vera Lynn
