BOWES, Betty Augusta “Gus” (April 23, 1932 – July 18, 2021) – It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Betty Augusta “Gus” Bowes (nee Speedie), mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, in the wee hours of July 18, 2021, at Muskoka Landing in Huntsville.
Daughter of the late Dalton and Wilma Speedie (Lynn). Survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years Alan Bowes; her children Anne D’Andrea (Mike), Julie Bowes (Stephen), Shawn Bowes, Jane Bowes Poulsen (Niels), Gloria Bowes (Randy), and Amy Piché (Paul). Cherished sister of Carolyn Nelson (Howard), Lynda Coad (Sheldon – the late Paul Coad); predeceased by sister Gertrude Hitchcock (the late Paul), and Sherry McVittie (Don). Proud Grandmother of Shawn D’Andrea (Michelle), Mark D’Andrea (Jasmind), Karen D’Andrea (Justin), Sarah D’Andrea, Andrea Abraham (Therese), Meaghan Brennan (Jon), Karli Kuchinski, Micheal Piché, and predeceased by Jessica Hope Piché. Also cherished by seven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thank you to the staff at Muskoka Landing for their outstanding care, compassion, and support through this difficult time.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 2pm at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, in Bracebridge. Due to restrictions, please keep in mind masks and social distancing will be in effect. Please RSVP below.
