Betty Ann Ward
Betty Ann Ward, 89, of Moncton, died
peacefully on Friday afternoon, April 23, 2021 at Spencer Nursing
Home, where she had been a resident for the last 8 years. Born in
Moncton, the only child of Charles & Muriel (Gibson)
Stevens.
She graduated from Moncton High School
in 1949 and then went to Saint John to pursue a nursing career. She
graduated from Saint John General Hospital in 1953. Returning to
Moncton she worked at the Moncton Hospital from 1953 – 1970 and held
many different positions.
Betty Ann married John Ward in 1956
and had over 60 wonderful years together, along with their dogs Sunny,
Cocoa & Dudley. Near John’s retirement age, they
moved to Bouctouche Bay and enjoyed country living along the
Northumberland Strait. Her pastime was doing needlepoint, of which she
did many large pieces that decorated walls in their home. They moved
back to Moncton in 2012 as their health deteriorated.
She was pre- deceased by her parents,
and John in 2017. She will fondly be remembered by sister-in-law,
Margaret (Ward) & Stuart Huestis of Kentville, NS and family,
as well as cousins in Ontario & Mass, USA.
Her wish was for no visitation or
funeral, but for a private family burial where she will lay next to
John and her parents in Elmwood Cemetery.

Grove Unit at Spencer’s for their expert care over the
years, and to Dr. Marie Blanchard, who was a life saver at a very
difficult time.
Arrangements are under the direction
of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995).
