Betty Ann Doris Petz (Nee Kentel), a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on March 4, 2021 at Carmel Hospice surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Betty Ann was the fifth child born to parents Valentine and Elizabeth Kentel, coming into this world as a gift and a blessing on December 11, 1935 in the MacNutt, SK area. Betty Ann was predeceased by her parents, brother Vernon and sister-in-law Hertha, brother Wallace, brother Murvyn and sister-in law Shirley, brother Clifford and sister-in-law Barb, and brother-in-law Gordon Schentag. She is survived by her brother Ray Kentel (Marg) from Salmon Arm BC, sister Adeline Schentag from Regina SK, and sister-in-law Brigit Kentel from Chilliwack BC. Betty Ann Kentel and Peter Petz were married on July 23, 1954 in MacNutt SK. Betty Ann was predeceased by members of Peter’s family including George and Ann Petz, John and Mary Zitaruk, Phil and Elsie Pugsley, Bill and Doris Hnatyshyn, Gerry and Margaret Hooper, Ray Davidson, Kay Brown and David Petz. She is survived by Ann Davidson, John and Dolores Petz, Nick and Rosemarie Petz, Jim and Anne Petz, Carol Petz, Arnold and Marjorie Wagner and Steve and Joan Petz as well as many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews from the Petz and Kentel families. Betty Ann and Peter were blessed with 4 children. Pam (Phil) Hawley (Medicine Hat AB), Shelly Ann Petz (Calgary AB), Perry Petz (Calgary AB) and Ryan (Erika) Petz (Columbia SC). She was delighted to be the much loved grandmother to Chauntille (Justin) Munchinsky, Kyler (Victoria) Hawley, Kailen Petz, Braedon Petz and Lextyn Petz. She felt so blessed by the time she spent with great-grandchildren Marek Munchinsky, Everleigh Petz, Elias Munchinsky, Hope Munchinsky and Thea Hawley who fondly knew her as “GG.” Betty Ann’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Home Care, in particular Mai, Charlene, Karen and Liz, for your never ending kindness and caring. To the staff on 5West at MHRH for your kind attention, patience and understanding and to the nursing and medical staff at Carmel Hospice for the love, kindness and support provided to our entire family as we faced the challenges of Mom’s final days. A special thank you to Dr. Sally Bolstad for her excellent care and the time spent with Mom and family members as we navigated this most difficult situation.
