Obituary of Barry Darren Plett
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to an amazing man.
Barry is survived by Laurel, his loving wife of 33 years, his son Nicolas Plett, daughter-in-law Paige, and their future daughter that Barry was so excited to meet, son Jerraimya Plett and granddaughter Tia, son Isaiah Plett, daughter-in-law Mackenzie and grandchildren Sawyer and Leila, his brother Larry Plett and wife Mary, his brother Wayne Plett and wife Liz, his brother Wally Plett and wife Anne, his sister Irma Remple and husband Ray, his sister Brenda Loewen, his brother Rey Plett and wife Eleanor, his brother Lyle Plett and wife Bev.
Barry was predeceased by his father David Plett in 2005, mother Helen Plett in 2011 and his brother-in-law Curt Loewen in 2021.
The most important thing to Barry was his family. He was always willing to help his kids and support Laurel in helping her make her dreams come true. Barry loved each and every moment with his grandkids, each held a special place in his heart. He worked hard to support his kids in their hobbies and life in general. The last few years Barry enjoyed helping Laurels vision for her business become a reality, this was just as exciting to him and he worked hard to see those visions come to life. His joy was making others happy and that he sure did well!
When the time came for Barry’s mom and dad to need closer care he didn’t think twice about building a home to accommodate that and cherished each and every moment that he got to spend with them right next door.
Barry also couldn’t say no to the extended family or friends if they asked him for help. He was more than happy to come out and help anyone with any project any time and then you were sure to enjoy hanging out afterwards. He really enjoyed spending time with people and he had no problem talking to anyone he met. If you knew Barry well or not you probably knew about his great big hugs that spoke a million words without one at all. His embrace said it all and he loved to share it.
He really cherished those friends he was close with and loved to spend time whether it be on the deck for a drink in deep conversation or in the woods on a side by side you could count him in!
Barry had a massive heart for people. He loved more in his 56 years of life than most people do in an 80 year lifetime. I honestly believe God decided it was time for him to come home. Our loss is Heavens gain and Barry will be greatly missed!
The public come & go viewing will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Please line up in your vehicle on the west side of the building and a director will usher you in when it is safe to do so.
