Obituary for Barbara Louise Scattergood
August 8, 1950 to October 3, 2020
Barbara Louise Scattergood was born in Guelph, Ontario On the 8th of August 1950. Barbara was a passionate elementary educator for over 40 years; she especially loved teaching the little ones. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Trent University on October 19th, 1985. Everyone, including the students and her peers, loved Barbara. One of Barbara’s greatest lessons she taught was to be kind to others.
Barbara had a very happy childhood where she was loved and encouraged. Her Father Robert Luscombe and Mother Norma Cunningham worked hard as a team to provide and treat their loving family. Barbara has two siblings, David and Elaine; her favorite childhood memories were being surrounded by her family and their annual summer holidays.
Barbara married the love of her life Doug in the Anglican Church in which her family actively attended on October 7th, 1972. Barb really enjoyed the simpler things in life, the change of the seasons, the wag of a dogs tail, a warm hug from a loved one. Barbara adored celebrating holidays, Christmas was her favorite. Barb showed her love by giving gifts, she never missed an opportunity to spoil a friend or a family member, and the best gift she ever received was her 2 children.
Barbara practiced positivity in all aspects of her life. Her radiant smile and optimistic outlook could shine a light even on the darkest of times. Barbara was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2013, after a long fought battle she passed away on October 3rd 2020 accompanied by her immediate family and her angel Linda. Barbara is survived by her husband Doug, son Robert and daughter Kristin. Her legacy lives on within her 2 children and within those whose lives she touched throughout her lifetime, she will be missed.
