Barbara Griffin avis de deces

CARSCADDEN, Barbara Ann (nee Griffin)
June 12, 1940 – August 29, 2021
Our dear mother passed away surrounded by her children, on Sunday
August 29, 2021, at the Renaissance Retirement home in Gatineau, Quebec. She promised she would be with us at least a hundred years. We are thankful for every year she was with us.
Loving wife of (the late) Harold Carscadden, for 58 years. Mother of Kim (Glenn), Steve (Nancy), Randy, Karen, and Kelly (Andrew). Very proud grandmother of Alex, Jordan (Jamie), Roxanne (Chad), Tyeler, Griffin, and Chelsea. Beloved sister of Bob and Bud (Helene) and proud Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
We were delighted that Mom saw several great videos and had video chats with her twin great-granddaughters Addison and Aubrie. Special thanks to the parents Roxanne and Chad and Janie-Pier at Renaissance.
For over fifty years, Mom had a great friend in Elaine. Their family moved away a log time ago, but they remained very close. Words can’t explain how much Elaine meant to Mom and our family, and how much she did for our family over the years. We are very thankful that Mom was able to share a nice phone call she had with Elaine just a few weeks ago. You are a very special person! Thank you, Elaine.
Barb (Mom) was born in Montreal in 1940 and moved to Aylmer, Quebec in the 1950’s. She studied to be a nurse and after graduation became an infant nurse at the Grace hospital. We always wondered how Mom had her first two children and did overnight shifts at the hospital. Prior to the birth of her third child, Barb decided it was time to take a break from the workforce and have more children.
Mom performed magic with the family finances. We never thought we did without anything. Bikes, clothes, toys, and whatever else we needed was always abundant.
Barb returned to work after her youngest started school. She volunteered at the local elementary school and then became a substitute teacher. It was not long until her love for babies returned, and she found a job at the Wellington Ward
Daycare Centre in Ottawa. She worked their until she was 64. To say she loved her job, and her family was an understatement.
We moved to Nelson Street in 1976. It was Mom and Dad’s dream home. This was the family home where we grew up and shared any many memorable moments. From being children, to our own children joining the family.
We can not say enough about the staff at the Renaissance Retirement home that cared for both of our parents. Many staff members approached this past week to provide comfort and kind words about our mom. We appreciated the great care she received in the last few years. Thank you, Renaissance!!
Please share any memories of Barb and celebrate her life. Donations to Parkinson Canada are appreciated. www.parkinson.ca/fr/
A private service will be held for our family to celebrate Mom’s life.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Barbara Griffin..
