Obituary of Audrey Ruth Clinton
“Mom”, “Gram”, “Auntie” – Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 19, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 89 years.
Born in August 1932 and raised by Reid and Lily (Osborne) Ansley in Wharncliffe, she lived and raised her children in this small community, eventually moving to Sault Ste. Marie in her later years to be closer to family.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Fredrick Clinton. She was an amazing mother and wonderfully devoted to her four children Arthur (Shelley), Jackie (late Giulio), Fredrick, and Ruth. She was an incredibly loving grandmother to Douglas (Cassie), Michael (Carole), Tiffany (Richard), Reid, Shana (Matthew), and great grandmother to Kyle, Audrey, Wyatt, Keeley, Lilianne, and Elise. Beloved sister of Nolene and the late Jack (Bernice).
Never one to slow down, she stayed busy working and raising her children. In her retirement she found joy tending to her hobby farm, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren. It brought her great happiness to watch many of the children and grandchildren of Wharncliffe grow up. She was an excellent storyteller and would frequently share tales of their antics. Everyone knew her home to be a place of acceptance, warmth, laughter, knitted mittens, and freshly baked cookies or bread.
She was so appreciative for the love and support she received from all her family, near and far. She wished to make a special thank you to her daughter, Ruth, and grandchildren, Reid, and Shana (Matthew), who welcomed her into their homes with open arms and supported her every step of the way through the ups and downs of her aging journey.
Additionally, she wished to thank her wonderful team of healthcare providers for their excellent care and support over the years, including her granddaughter Dr. Shana Tozer, Nurse Practitioner Jessica Oldham, Nurse Practitioner Brenda Paat, Dr. Nicki Apostle, Dr. Shahrukh Bakar, Dr. Danny Hill, Kelsey West of CCAC, and the wonderful staff of March of Dimes, Bayshore, and CBI Home Health. The family would also like to send a thank you to the staff of Sault Area Hospital for their care and compassion towards Audrey.
Audrey was truly an angel on earth. Her smile, warmth, and quick wit will be missed every day. She will live on in the hearts and cherished memories of her loved ones.
As per Audrey’s request there will be no funeral services. She asked instead we cherish and share her memory. Audrey had a great love of animals and would appreciate any memorial contributions to be made to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society.
Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
“Those we love don’t go away,
they walk beside us every day,
unseen, unheard, but always near,
so loved, so missed, so very dear.”
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Audrey
