Obituary
Schutta, Anne… It is with profound sadness that the family of Anne Schutta must mark her passing on December 17th, 2021. Beloved mother to Kathy and Lynn, cherished Nana to Hannah and Margaret and Margaret’s wife Sara, and great-grandmother to Addison and Elliott. Predeceased by husband Frank Schutta and her parents, Fred and Jean Way of Hillier. Anne was born in LeRoy, New York, March 5th, 1926, In her early years, she studied dance and performed in many local recitals in her south Buffalo neighbourhood. Anne worked as a switchboard operator and stenographer at the Saturn Club in Buffalo after graduating high school in 1944. After marrying her husband Frank in 1949, they moved (back) to Canada in 1950 to assist her parents with the operation of the Texaco gas station in Hillier. Over her many years of community service, she led the local chapter of the 4H Homemaking club, played piano for the Women’s Institute, and taught Sunday school at the United Church in Hillier. While still raising two daughters, she helped with the planting and harvesting of tomatoes, and worked alongside many neighbourhood friends at Jack Taylor’s canning factory in Hillier. Later in life, she returned to the work force in earnest, eventually retiring from Murata-Erie in the early 1990’s. Her final years were quietly spent in Trenton surrounded by her beloved pets and family. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to convey its deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Quinte 5 at Belleville General Hospital. We cannot find the words to fully express our appreciation for the exemplary loving care our mother received throughout her final days at Hospice Quinte.
