Anne’s Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Anne Polischuk announce her passing at Circle Drive Special Care Home, Saskatoon, SK, on November 19, 2021, at the age of 93 years.
Anne was born in Canora, SK, on November 29, 1927, to George and Wawara (nee Bodnar) Wakaluk. She grew up in a large family on a farm near Good Spirit Lake, SK. After attending Normal School, she taught in a number of rural schools in the area. Anne was widowed from her first husband, John Balitski, when their daughter, Marlene was very young. In 1958, she married Dan Polischuk and her family continued to grow with the addition of three sons, David, Richard, and Dale. Anne continued to teach in Hyas until her retirement. In 2006, she moved from the family farm to Saskatoon, SK, where she continued to reside until her passing at Circle Drive Special Care Home on November 19, 2021.
Anne had many hobbies and activities throughout her life. She enjoyed curling, gardening, needlepoint, drawing and painting. In later years, she was fond of crossword puzzles, the game shows, Jeopardy and The Price is Right, and delighted in the card game, Skip-Bo. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anne was predeceased by her husbands, John Balitski and Dan Polischuk; her parents, George and Wawara (Bodnar) Wakaluk; and her siblings: Bill, Mike, Sally, Mary, Peter, Metro, John, and Kay.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Marshall) Lygas; sons, David Polischuk (Charmaine), Richard Polischuk (N’gone), and Dale Polischuk; and her grandchildren: Riley, Brandon, Katelyn, Jessie, Jenna, Daniel, Eden, Brianne, Elijah, and Hawa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Velda Dahlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Stoney Creek Cemetery, between Stenen and Hyas, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to a Charity of Donor’s Choice, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Anne Polischuk.
