Anna Mae Turgeon (Loney)
In loving memory of Anna Mae Turgeon, age 80 years, who passed away peacefully at the Lake of the Wood District Hospital on Friday January 29, 2021. Anna Mae was born in Dryden Ontario on April 16, 1940. She lived on the Oakland Dairy Farm which is now known as Kellar road. Anna Mae moved to Saskatchewan in 1942 and returned back to Ontario in 1949. Anna Mae lived in the country close to Dinorwic where she attended school. Ralph and Hilda Turgeon also came from Saskatchewan and lived on the same road as Anna Mae; that is where she met Joe. They went to school on the bus together. Anna Mae lived there till 1954 when she moved to Dyment where Anna Mae took grades 9 & 10. In 1956 Anna Mae moved to Dryden and boarded with Joe’s sister Hazel, they all worked in the St. Regis Bay Factory. Joe and Anna Mae were married on October 7, 1957. They lived in town until 1959 when they bought property on the very same road as the Oakland Dairy; Anna Mae was about a mile from where she was born. Anna Mae and Joe built a basement that fall where they lived until the spring of 1961 when they put a prefab house on the basement. Their son Randy was born on August 3, 1958 and daughter Laurie was born on April 22, 1961. The years went by as in any family. Anna Mae took part in many community events including hockey games, meat draws at the Legion, bingo and many family gatherings. She was a long time member of the Dryden Genealogical Society who shared her knowledge freely.
Anna Mae is survived by her children Laurie Turgeon (John Kowalchuck) and Randy Turgeon (Mark Payas), grandson Dylan Kress, great granddaughter Charlee Kress, two sisters Ellen (Richard) Messner, Porcupine Plains, Saskatchewan and Reta (late Fred) Trafford, Carleton Place, Ontario as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Anna Mae was predeceased by her husband Joseph, parents Benjamin and Luella (Logan) Loney, siblings Muriel, Cecil, Velma, Vern, Nelda, Thelma and Ethel Rose.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
