Obituary
Obituary for Anna Louise Thornburn
September 17, 1932 – December 31, 2020
It is with a sad and heavy heart we announce the passing of our mother Anna Thornburn. Born in Victoria, BC, Anna married to Peter Ramsey Thornburn on October 26, 1951. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, parents Ida (nee Patterson) and William (Bill) Earnshaw, and brothers Ivan and Don Earnshaw.
She was a dedicated and loving wife to Peter Ramsey Thornburn and mother to her four children, Linda Martin (Steve), Paul (Jenny), Diane Franzen (Jim Martin) and David (Rodilin), her grandchildren, Sherry Franzen, Shena Craig, Ryan Franzen, Leah Lim, Michelle Thornburn, Brylle Hinoguin, Nicole Pajantoy, and her great-grandchildren, Eliana, Elijah, Adelyn, Emma, Jax, Kai, Barrett, and Anna.
Mom spent many years in the work force, banking in the earlier years, then bookkeeping for many years once all of us kids had flown the coop. Mom enjoyed her crafts, crosswords, playing cards, rummoli, volunteering, and being on her computer.
In later years Mom joined the Daughters of the Nile as Dad became a Mason and Shriner. Together they spent countless hours volunteering for noble causes, specifically the Shriners Hospitals for Children. They loved camping, cruises and travelling about in their truck and trailer to many events in support of the Shriners until life began to slow them down.
We all have so many memories of fabulous and delicious family dinners. We were very big on that, with lots of great cooks in the family. They commented often how lucky they were especially in the last 20 years because there was rarely a weekend dinner missed, lots of Friday nights too, celebrating the end of our work week with our usual loud socializing. A lot of you can attest to that! They set a good example for the rest of us for a love of good food.
The past six years had been spent together in a retirement home, Zion Park Manor (Dad passed in August 2017). Mom made sure she provided much entertainment for the staff. She had a great sense of humour and loved teasing and giving the girls a hard time. They enjoyed her humour very much. We are so appreciative of all the staff that had become an extended family for her and did such an amazing job with her care.
She will be missed and loved. Now together with her PeeTee, and happy once again.
Rest in peace Mom. We all love and miss you.
