It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Angelo Capozzo, on August 9, 2021, 15 days short of his 88th birthday.
Beloved husband for 67 years of Lina D’Onofrio and cherished father of Connie (Michel). He will also be dearly missed by his sister Nunzia (Antonio), brother-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Nicola, Pellegrino and Donato as well as his sisters Antonietta and Grazia.
A loving, wonderful father and mentor, Angelo was proud, wise, and generous with his time and love, and always the happy optimist. His telltale whistle was a beacon of his joie de vivre. Even towards the end of his life, nurses and hospital aides heard his whistle and dubbed him “le petit moineau.” He was at his happiest enjoying a good meal with family and friends, relishing good conversations with people and delighting in their company.
Arriving in Canada at the young age of 18, he faced his first adversity only six months later with the loss of his eye, but his strength and perseverance saw him through the challenge. Competitive at all he attempted, be it work or hobby, he always strived to excel. For many years, as a trusted warehouse foreman and asset to Barer Engineering, his employer turned to him for his sage advice and innovative, cost-saving recommendations. Later in life, he decided to build a career in real estate and established his own company. He succeeded in all his business endeavours and truly enjoyed his work, so much so that he postponed retirement until the age of 84. Unfortunately, in the end, his sharp mind betrayed him. May the heavens now know his soft whistle.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Yves Légaré’s complex in Lasalle.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 12:00 pm at St. John Bosco Parish, 2510, Springland Street (COVID restrictions=50 people), and thence, to the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
