Angelo Bosco Andrella Sunday January 24th 2021 avis de deces

Passed away peacefully with his children by his side in his 100th year. Loving husband to the late Giovanna (Gina) Andrella (née Marangon).
Born in Bosco di Nanto, Italy, Angelo sought out a better life in Belgium, where he met his soulmate of 70 years Gina. They emigrated to Canada in 1954, developed lifelong friendships and became involved with the Vicentini community, where he was most active in organizing events and gathering with his friends. He was a recipient of the Person of the Year Award in 2013 during Italian Week and was inducted as a Cavaliere in the Venerable Brotherhood of Bacalà alla Vicentina for his famous dish from the Veneto region. He loved being in the company of friends and family and was always up for a challenge. Our dad was known for his “joie de vivre” together with his love of dancing, his gardening skills, where he shared his starter plants with family and friends….but mostly, he enjoyed sitting down for a chat and sharing a glass of his home made wine.
He was happiest when he was busy gardening, welding, renovating, cooking, organizing and socializing. A self taught man, dad never refused to lend a helping hand where no job was too big. He will be remembered by most for his skills as a welder and his active involvement with the Italian community, where he was a BBQ master for the various club picnics held throughout the years.
Throughout his long life, Angelo held many titles, but his greatest of all was that of a devoted husband to his beloved Gina and loving father to his three children, Orlando (Pina), Grace (Denis) and Maria (Marc). Cherished nonno to Martin (Natalie), Michael (Mayra), Nicholas (Tania), Pamela, Talia and Dante and proud bisnonno to Jack, Graciela, Lucca, Lewis and Annalisa. Also survived by his extended family in Italy and Belgium.
In his last year, Angelo persevered through illness with courage, grace and humour, just as he had lived his life. He will surely be missed but not easily forgotten. We thank dad’s many friends who continued to stay in touch into his last days, as well as the care he received from Laura, Brunette (PSW) and the exceptional, gentle and caring staff at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private graveside family service will be held. A Celebration of Life with family and friends, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers we ask that you raise your glass, and toast a man of strength, humour, integrity, and a life well lived.
Donations to the Hospice Care Ottawa in Angelo’s memory would be appreciated.
