Obituary
Alphonse Peter Kopp, (formerly of Odessa and Tyvan), late of Weyburn, SK, lived a full life to age 94 years and one month. Al passed away on January 18, 2021.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth (Klotz) and Florian Kopp; his wife Angelina (Mireau); by her parents, Christina (Jacobs) and Aloysius Mireau; his daughter Linda Kopp; oldest sister Pauline Schwartz; his oldest brother Michael; brothers-in-law: Joe Markel, Adam Schwartz, Joe Cwynar, Richard Matt, Dick Cann, Tony, Allan, Ed, George Mireau, Leonard Gill; sisters-in-law: Marie Gill, Mary Mireau, Doreen Mireau, Marlene Mireau, Edna Mireau, Minnie Kopp and Marlene Kopp.
Alphonse will be missed by his children: Ken Kopp of Tyvan, Donna (Lionel Wanner) of Goodwater, Brenda Skiba (Marvin Glab) of Regina and Anita (Mike Snider) of Weyburn; his grandchildren: Kevin Wanner (Marie Ballenas) of Weyburn and their children [Ainsley, Acacia, Evianne, Deacon, Beckham], Terrance Wanner (Jessica Botkin) of Regina and their daughter [Kiara], Michelle (Jacob Johnson) of Duncan, Oklahoma and their children [Jake, Pierce, Kaitlyn, Zeke], Clayton Skiba (Heather Harrison) of Regina and their children [Karson and Matthew], Danny Skiba (Valerie DeBruyne) of Regina and their children [Hanna and Brooke]; Taylor Snider and Tristan Snider (Justine Schlacter) of Weyburn, Ginger (Seth Peterson) and their children [Ruth and Bjorn], Jacob Michaelchuk (Katie Goetz) and their children [Anna, Abbot, Zena and Zoe]; brothers, George Kopp of Regina, John Kopp of Calgary; sisters: Flora (Kopp) and Ben Gruber of Regina, Irene (Kopp) Cwynar of Regina, Beatrice (Kopp) Markel of Calgary; sisters-in-law: Hazel Matt of Saskatoon, Sandy Cann of Prince George, BC, Muriel Kopp (wife Muriel) of Indian Head; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayers will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK with Fr. Francis Plaparampil celebrant. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK.
On behalf of Alphonse’s family, a very big “Thank You” to the doctors and staff at the Weyburn General Hospital, especially Dr. J. Warren, Dr. A. Lenferna, Dr. J. Oberkirsch and all attending staff. To each of you, your kindness and compassionate care of Alphonse during his short illness was such a great comfort and support for him and his family. Also, a special thank you to Father Francis Plaparampil, RD Family Funeral Chapel, Lionel, Mike, Taylor and Tristan for the many trips to run grandpa’s short notice errands. We would like to thank each and everyone of you for your friendship of yesterday and years gone by. He is at peace now.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, we all must abide by the province of Saskatchewan’s restrictions on public gatherings by limiting the number of people attending the service to 30 people.
