It is with sad hearts that the family of Alphonse (Al) Joseph Stankus announces his passing on June 14, 2021 at the age of 96. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Adele (Della), his four daughters, Adele Caton (John) of Port Alberni, BC, Anita Stankus of Napanee, ON, Andrea Loukota (Joe) of Phoenix, AZ and Alicia Scarth of Toronto, ON. He was Pops and Poppa to Chad (Shari) and Courtney (Cosy) Caton, Cameron and Jessie Scarth and great grandfather to Laterra Lawson-Manson and Rylee and Brennan Caton.
Al grew up in Montreal and moved with his family to Brampton, ON in 1961 then to Kingston, ON in 1976. He worked for Northern Electric and Northern Telecom in Montreal, Bramalea and Kingston and had 35 years of service. Retiring at 55 he still had energy and kept busy with volunteering with the Telephone Pioneers for many years and also enjoyed golfing, bowling, stained glass, playing his 2 antique accordions and renovating his and Della’s century home in Adolphustown. Treasured family visits brought much joy and laughter.
In keeping with Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Wartman Funeral Home in Napanee has been entrusted with arrangements. No services will be held. Thank you to the caring staff at Royale Place Senior Residence as well as Kingston General Hospital. For those who wish, a donation to the the Napanee Hospital or the Kingston General Hospital would be one of his wishes to keep giving back to the community he loved.
