Into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus on August 3, 2021 at the age of 100. Predeceased by her husband Thomas (1993). Dearest mom of Lynne Young and husband Jim, Sharron Renaud (the late Bradley), Shelley Roung and husband John, and predeceased by son Barry (1965). Loving Nana of 7 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was the aunt of many nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Alma was born in Ford City (Windsor) on October 3, 1920. She lived her younger years in Ford City, and was the daughter of a Police Officer, Charles Johnson and wife Agnes during prohibition days. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper, as well as many other part-time jobs over the years. Alma was instrumental in the founding of the Canadian Chapter of “Hero’s on the Move”-a Christian sport camp in Port Elgin, which operated summer sports camps for youths with Christ-centred focus. She was an avid golfer, and she got her first hole-in-one in her 80’s and golfed almost daily into her early 90’s. Alma professed her public dedication to Christ at the age of 93, and was baptised by immersion at Shoreline Baptist Church in Port Elgin. Over the years, Alma worshipped faithfully at her church. Most important in Alma’s life was her family, whom she prayed for daily.
If you so desire, donations to Gideon’s Bible Society or Shoreline Baptist Church, designate HOTM (Hero’s on the Move), would be appreciated by the family.
