Obituary of Alice Mary Mosher
It is with sadness the family of Alice Mosher announce her passing on Friday , January 15th ,2021 at Glen Haven Manor ,with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.
Alice was born on December 21,1931 in Chatham Head ,New Brunswick. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Cormier) Barrieau . Alice was a character -fiesty determined lady and all who knew her could attest to this. Those who inquired about her generally had a story to tell ,you could always count on it to be interesting .But that was just a part of the independent ,give it a go lady she was. Alice was a small town girl from Chatham Head , left to go to Toronto at a young age .There she enjoyed dancing ,fancy restaurants and working for the Dept. of National Defence, until she decided to raise a family ,despite a pending promotion if she were to return. She then moved to Halifax , being active in Brownies and winning trophies in a local bowling league until she moved to Bridgeville. In Bridgeville she was always busy and involved ,holding executive positions in various committees ,working tirelessly to help make things happen as she also did when she was involved with the Pictou County Highland Dancers. She also enjoyed Hockey Night in Canada if the other team scored a goal against the Montreal Canadians ,her reaction was intense. And as a lady of mature years she raked blueberries , because she actually enjoyed it .She was very talented ,what she did she did well. She could cook ,sew ,bake ,knit ,fish and enjoyed camping with her children when they were small .Camping as in the cottage at Black Brook, no power or running water ,just a Coleman stove and lamp. Alice loved growing things too ,when Alice moved next to Stellarton ,many plants were taken to Alice in hopes she might give them a second chance, Alice Mosher the plant whisperer, who knew .Alice is survived by a daughter Marina(Bill) MacLean of Stellarton sons Kevin (Jenny) of Alberta ,Scott (Linda) of Amherst her beloved grandchildren ,sisters Rose Seeley and Alma Barrieau of New Brunswick, several nieces and nephews .She was predeceased by sisters Melina ,Emily ,Alberta and brothers Albert ,Edmond, Frank , Hilaire ,Arthur ,Joseph and Oliver. The family would like to thank the staff of Glen Haven Manor who showed Alice such kindness ,care and compassion . At Alice’s request her remains have been donated to Dalhousie Medical Science Research and will be no service or visitation
