Tassie, Alan Richard “Al”
ALAN (AL) RICHARD TASSIE, 89, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on March 11, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He served in the RCMP at the age of 19 in his hometown of Winnipeg. Shortly after, he found his niche working undercover for a newly formed drug squad in various major cities throughout Canada. His work led to becoming the head of the drug squad for Ontario and responsible for developing, training and execution of a surveillance team. He retired and entered into another fulfilling career with Canadian Customs. He also worked as a mediator for an investigating company and fulfilled many contracts for the Canadian Government. He is survived by his adoring wife, Dianne (Dee) Vance, Joan Paquette, his children, Marc (Rosemary), Louise (Jean Marc), Paul (Helene) and Claire (Richard). He was lovingly thought of by his step children Judy (Martyn), Chris (Lynette) and his six step grandchildren. He was known as Rumpa to his grandchildren Amanda, Cynthia, Marcel, Daniel, Paul, Matthieu, Samiah and Gabriel. He was known as Grandpa Al to his step great grandchildren, Lillian and Adriana and Hunter. Al will be missed by his many friends and many social circles. A private memorial service will be held on Friday March 19, 2021 from 2-4pm. This service will be live streamed and can be viewed on this website by clicking on the link provided below. At a later date when COVID restrictions are lifted, a celebration of his life will be held.
