Al Wilson Monday September 20th 2021

1940 – 2021 – Al Wilson passed away on September 20th after a seven-year battle with cancer. Al leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years Barbara (Shropshire) and his three wonderful sons: Steve (Patricia), Mike (Jen), and Rick (Holly). Al and Barb are proud of their four bright and beautiful granddaughters, Laura (Adam), Claire (Nathan), Hope, and Layne. Al also leaves behind two great-grandsons in England who he was unfortunately never able to meet in person: Patrick and Felix.
A respected and well-loved teacher at Newmarket High School from 1961 through 1995, Al gave a great deal to his community. He was a football, basketball and hockey coach; a night school woodcarving instructor; and in his retirement, a volunteer tournament director for a shuffleboard league in Fort Myers, Florida, where Al and Barb vacationed together for 20 winters.
Cremation has taken place and a family gathering is planned to scatter his ashes around his favourite fishing hole.
Al’s family wishes to thank the many caring doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre and the Margaret Bahen Hospice for their efforts to help fight the disease and for providing compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either institution in memory of Al.
