Agostina Crisanti
June 18, 1939 – November 8, 2021
The family of Agostina Crisanti is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday November 8, 2021 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 82 years old. Agostina was born June 18, 1939 in Termini Imerese Italy, the third daughter of Antonino and Maria Teresi. In 1959, at the young age of 20 she migrated to Winnipeg Manitoba. On May 7 1960 she married Giuseppe Crisanti and the following year their only child Vince was born. Agostina had a great deal of love for her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and dedicated friend to many. Agostina’s employment outside the home included working at a local sewing factory where she not only made beautiful clothes but she created long and lasting friendships with many of her co-workers. Her talents as a seamstress were remarkable. At home she would sew and make patterns from scratch that developed into amazing garments, or she’d make curtains /drapery that was hard to believe it wasn’t store purchased. Along with her husband Joe she had a love of gardening and together they would spend hours in their yard, with tomatoes and zucchini being the pride of their crops. This was followed by hours in the kitchen as Agostina would make her own pasta sauce and the aroma could be enjoyed throughout the neighborhood. She also had a flare for baking and often shared her Italian recipes with family and friends. You certainly never left their home hungry. Together Agostina and Joe proudly volunteered for many years at the Italian Pavilion during Winnipeg’s annual Folklorama festival.
Agostina’s pride and joy was her son Vince, watching him grow, get an education, getting married, becoming a father and owning his own business. Agostina’s heart was sadly broken when her husband passed away October (2011) and Vince (2015) both due to Cancer. Her loss was unmeasurable. She is also predeceased by her parents Antonino and Maria Teresi, sisters Cosima (Domenico) Grasso; sister Pina Morello.
Due to ill health, Agostina moved from her home in Villa Cabrini to The Convalescent Centre in Winnipeg; and most recently this past year to the Riverview Health Centre. Our family wishes to extended t deepest gratitude and appreciation to the excellent staff at both locations who cared so professionally and lovingly for Agostina, especially during covid restrictions.
Left to cherish her memory is daughter in law Marci Crisanti: granddaughter Lindsay Crisanti, grandson Greg (Carrie) Crisanti and great grandchildren Jett (5), Emberley (3) and Brixley (1) all of Brandon Manitoba; sister Maria Morello: brother-in-law Joe (Rosa) Morello: Termini Imeresi; as well as several nieces and nephews all from Sicily Italy. Also, Denis and Diane Magnee of Winnipeg who over the years went from being Joe and Agostina’s neighbours to becoming chosen family members
