Obituary of Walter Buckle
BUCKLE, Walter – Peacefully at home with his family by his side, Walter Joseph Buckle died on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 90. Walter was born January 10th, 1930 in Corner Brook Newfoundland. The place that was always home in his heart. He moved to Sarnia in 1949, where he secured a job at Polysar as a pipefitter for 43 years. Walter soon met the love of his life Shirley (Dufresne) they married in 1954, and together they raised 5 wonderful children that Walter was immensely proud of. Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman, so living on Lake Huron served him well. He never forgot his roots in Newfoundland and journeyed back there often. He is the Beloved husband of Shirley (Dufresne)for 66 years. Loving father of Valerie Lariviere (Roger), Sturgeon Falls, Barry Buckle (Lynn), Sarnia, Lynn Brake (Wayne), Sarnia, Mary Helen Boccioletti (late Jim), Sarnia and Lori Zilliges (Bernie) Sarnia. Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey (Jen), Jennifer (Sam,). Andrew (Monica), Melissa (Jamie), Julie (Colin), Ashleah, Matthew, Sarah (Adam) and Hailey. Great grandfather of 12. Walter is survived by sister Sylvia Scott, of South Carolina. Special Daughter in-law Kim Buckle, In-laws Hector, Lionel, Leo, Leona and Rita, He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John & Agatha Buckle and brothers Brendan, Edward, Charles, Francis, sisters Gertrude Meade, Margaret White and Zita Lundrigan, and in-laws Hector and Jenny Dufresne.

Due to the current COVID 19 restrictions, a private family visitation and service will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St. Sarnia (519-344-3131). Of all of my Dad’s friends, Walter was always my favorite. As a young boy I followed Dad and Walter around in the bush. They were great friends and excellent hunters. I have nothing but good memories of Walter and of course Shirley his wife. Walter memories will live forever. God Bless.
