Walter’s Obituary
WHITE, Walter Clifford – age 74, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with family at his side. Walter will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his father, Thomas C. White, Yarmouth; siblings, Rev. Mary J. White (Grant Vaughan), Powell River, BC; Sharon (James) Breen, Dartmouth; Michael (Seretha) White, Yarmouth; daughter, Veronica (Quinten) Newman, Shawnigan Lake, BC; his best friend and companion, Jean; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Edna (Muise) White; grandparents, Lydia and Samuel Muise, and Toussaint and Margaret LeBlanc. Walter was raised in Shearwater, NS. Following high school, he commenced working at Bedford Institute of Oceanography before moving to Vancouver Island where he began working with B.C. Forest Products, Caycuse, B.C. He retired after working 40 years as a heavy-duty mechanic in the forest industry. Throughout his life, Walter enjoyed playing in many different sports including track and field, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, and golf. He also took pleasure in motor cycling, cooking, baking, reading, politics, poetry, carpentry, camping, and listening to Blues music. He loved life, lived it to the fullest and enjoyed all that he experienced with no regrets. If you knew Walter, you were no doubt a recipient of his kind, generous spirit. Where there was a need, he was there to help in whatever way he could. He was proud to be a Canadian and had a place in his heart for British Columbia. Walter, there will always be an empty place in our hearts. You left us too soon, but your love is eternal. We will miss your sense of humour. The family would like to thank Dr. Lisa Gillis and all of the staff in the palliative care unit and on 4-North. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 11, Rev. Mary White officiating. Please note that masks are required, social distancing guidelines must be followed and seating may be limited; as such, friends are asked to phone Huskilson’s Funeral Home (902-742-3626) to RSVP. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or to the Salvation Army, Yarmouth.
