Obituary
On April 7, 2020, Vivian (Montjoy) Dunn of Weyburn, SK passed from this life after 88 years. Danny passed away 12 years earlier, they were married 54 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Cora and Everett Montjoy, her sister Doris and Kieth Mckechnie.
Vivian leaves behind her daughter Diane and Ed Roelfsema, who farm the family farm at Froude. Their children Maralee and fiancé Justin, Lucas and his girlfriend Amanda. Her youngest daughter Debb and Doyle Kemp, who farm at Harptree. Their children Delee and Joel Noble, Darla and Joel Ashby, Dallas and Ray Rusk, Dalton and Jocie Kemp. Mom enjoyed and was proud of her “greats:” Kai, Cash and Everett Noble, Sawyer, Paige and Blair Ashby and Cooper Rusk. Vivian also leaves her sister Barb and Dwaine Dornan of Regina, SK, along with all of Barb’s and Doris’s children who loved and enjoyed Aunt Viv.
Vivian leaves behind these special people too: Irene and Mary Szeponski, Ellsworth Dunn, Greta Dunn. Marie and Bill Thompson, Lorna and Tedd Laas, Judy Ray, Niel and Kathy Dunn. She loved all Danny’s family and will be fondly remembered by the nieces and nephews, some of whom spent lots of time at the farm.
Vivian was born August 29, 1931. We usually spent about one week celebrating her birthday!
She was born a teacher but didn’t start her 29 year career until she finished Normal School in Moose Jaw. She taught from 1950 ~ 1978, with time off when her girls were born, “Mrs. Dumdum” as she was lovingly referred to by some, was a good teacher. An encourager to every student, teaching each one to read with patience and love. She had many good friends on staff and enjoyed her teaching years. She always said she was so blessed to have a job she loved.
Danny and Vivian both loved what they did. She would come home from school with her apple box of correcting, fix a meal, head to the field to feed whoever was working on the farm that day. They always planted a big garden and of course shared it with everyone. It was their nature to share. They shared their time, money, talents, their home, even their camper and vehicles. Everything they had, they shared. Mostly they shared their lives. Vivian loved to “adopt people in her heart.” She has adopted people from all over the world, increasing our family by the dozens!
We are so thankful for all whom mom and dad adopted and the love they have shown back to us. The lives that Danny and Vivian shared stems of their love of God and their Saviour Jesus Christ. They loved God with all their hearts and they loved people with everything else.
We know that many of you have great memories of mom and would have been present at a formal gathering. We feel you present with us now just like you were present in her life.
Vivian will be buried with Danny and along side Dorcas Cheung at the Heward Cemetery. At this time we are considering a celebration of Vivian’s life sometime in the future.
Enjoy the many good memories you have of mom and dad and we thank you for loving them and our families.
For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Vivian may be made to the Clearview Christian Camp, Kenosee Lake, SK, S0C 2S0.
