Vilda Marguerite Skerry
1935-2020
Vilda Marguerite Skerry of Lakeville, passed away on Tuesday,
January 7, 2020 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. She was
the daughter of the late Chester James Skerry and Violet Marguerite
Redden and granddaughter of the late Victor Charles and Dora Helen
Skerry. Vilda graduated from Central Kings Rural High School, 1954
Cambridge Commencement and graduated from the School of Nursing V.G.H.
Halifax in 1957. She did her nursing practice at the V.G.H. and then
transferred to the N.S. Sanatorium Miller Hospital (BRM) Kentville
Hospital Association 1958 and finally to the new Valley Health
Services Association Hospital. Upon retirement in 1993-1994, Vilda was
keenly interested in both nursing practice and nursing education
activities. She was very devoted to all aspects of the nursing
profession. Her hobbies included travelling, photography, gardening,
especially flowers. Due to the death of her mother during her
childbirth, Vilda was cared for and raised by her grandparents,
Charles Victor and Dora Helen Skerry, ever since two weeks of age.
Vilda was a devoted member of the Centreville Congregation of
Jehovah’s Witnesses. She is survived by five half brothers
and sisters, all in United States; dear friends Tina Zanet, Rudy and
Melody Zanet, Gabi and Brandon Williams; many other friends and
acquaintances. Cremation has taken place and there will be no
visitation, by request. A memorial service will be held at
6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2020 in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. Refreshments will be served. Donations in memory may
be made to the Centreville Kingdom Hall or a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
