Thomas ‘Tommy’ Turnbull
1943-2019
Thomas Howard “Tommy” Turnbull, age 76, of
New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019, in the Aberdeen
Hospital. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Thomas William
and Violet Isabel (MacKinnon) Turnbull. Following school, he went to
work for B.F. Goodrich in Ontario before returning to the Punch and
Shears Dept of the former Hawker Siddeley, retiring from Trenton Works
in 2003 due to ill health. He enjoyed listening to baseball and hockey
having played both in his younger years. He was recognized by Canadian
Blood Services for his many blood donations. Tommy was a social member
of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34, New Glasgow and the Elks Club. He
is survived by brothers: Donald, New Glasgow; Philip, Trenton; Gerard
(Mary) MacKinnon, Wellington, Yarmouth Co; a niece and nephew and
grand nieces and nephews; several cousins. Special thanks to the
neighbours in the seniors, especially Janet, for your help and
kindness to Tommy. Thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Aberdeen
Hospital ICU, 4 North and Palliative Care, for your care. Visitation
10-10:45 am Friday, January 3, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55
Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with funeral service at 11 am, in the
Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow. Burial will be in Christ the
King Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Christ the King
Cemetery or the Pictou County SPCA.
