Died suddenly on October 28, 2020 in Sudbury, Ontario.
Loving husband of Anna (nee Kilkenny) predeceased in 2015. Father of Erin Mostovac (husband Peter), Margaret O’Brien and Noreen Harrison (husband Ron). Cherished grandfather to Sennah, Evan and Cody. Dear son of May and Thomas O’Brien of Ballinagh, County Cavan, Ireland both predeceased and dear brother to Kathleen Mills (Freddy), Marion Duffy (Paddy) and Angela O’Brien, all predeceased. He is survived by a sister-in-law Kathleen Schott in Connecticut, USA and brother-in-law Tom Kilkenny (wife Mary) in Ireland. Tom will be sadly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Ireland and by his friends and neighbors in Sudbury. Welcomed to Sudbury by the Irish community over 60 years ago, Tom was born in Saggart, County Dublin, Ireland. He was a proud and long-standing member of the International Association of Theatrical Service Employees and retired from Science North. He will be fondly remembered for his handyman talents and willingness to help those in need. The family thanks the welcoming community of Amberwood Suites Retirement residence where Tom made his home for the past two years.
As per Tom’s request, and due to the Covid-19 restrictions there will be no funeral home visitation or service at this time. A small family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, with the profound appreciation of his family.
