After a full life of 91 years, Clara passed away peacefully at the Allan Grey Continuing Care Centre on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Although we will greatly miss her, we rejoice that she is now whole and in the presence of her Lord and Saviour.
Clara had a deep faith in the Lord which was reflected in her warm, hospitable, gracious and giving spirit. She had a great sense of humour even in her later years living with dementia. She was a gentle person who lived her life in service to the Lord and others.
She was born and raised in Vermilion, Alberta, and went on to meet her husband Art in North Battleford, SK, while working at the Co-op Creamery and also sharing her talent on the piano at the local church. They married in November of 1952 and recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. They lived and served faithfully in North Battleford and later in the north (Fort Nelson, BC and Whitehorse, YT), and finally settling in Edmonton where they retired.
Some of her hobbies over the years were enjoying her grandchildren, knitting, quilting, reading, cooking and baking – a highlight of which were her buns and cinnamon buns.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Art and her children, Donna (Bill), Dianne (Werner), Dave (Linda), Debbie (Wes), Doug (Joanna), as well as her grandchildren, Jordan, Jeremy, Ashley, Joshua, Courtney, Kyle, Shayna, their spouses, and great-grandchildren Eliana and Isaiah.
Clara was predeceased by her parents, Jessie and Harvey Wilson, brothers Harold and Phillip and sister Cora.
Clara’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful, caring staff of the Allan Grey Continuing Care Centre which was her home for the past 7 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta or the Gideons International in Canada or the charity of your choice.
