1927-2020
Thelma Leola (Dubin) Whalen – 92 of Moorestown,
New Jersey, U.S.A., passed away March 21, 2020 in Jefferson Cherry
Hill Hospital, Cherry Hill , New Jersey. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts,
she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Edith (Wheaton)(Sidney)
Whalen. Thelma was the last surviving member of her immediate
family. She is survived by a sister in law, Helen (Atwater) Whalen,
New Minas; three nephews, Eric Whalen, New Minas, Brian (Pam)Whalen,
Coldbrook, Bruce (Sandy) Whalen, New Minas; lifelong friend, Minnie
Sheffield, Centreville. Beside her parents, Thelma was
predeceased by her husband, Hank Dubin; a brother, Gordon Clyde Whalen
and a sister, Joan Edith Bucki. Thelma, along with her
husband, Hank, were avid antique collectors. Singing and listening to
opera music was a favourite pastime of Thelma’s. Although
she resided in New Jersey, she thoroughly enjoyed her summer visits to
Nova Scotia. Her beloved “Bay Barn” had a special place in
her heart. A private family burial has taken place in
Lakeville Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. The family would
like to express a sincere thank you to Carol Johnson,
Thelma’s friend in New Jersey. We appreciate your kindness
and all you have done for our Aunt Thelma. Also, many thanks to the
staff at White Family Funeral Home for your compassion during this
difficult time. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
