Tara Mary Theresa Bernard-Julian 19842020

Tara Mary Theresa Bernard-Julian
1984-2020
Bernard-Julian, Tara Mary Theresa, age 36, of Paqtnkek
Mi’kmaw Nation passed away on September 25, 2020, at the
QEII Health Sciences Centre.
Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of Albert and Judy
(Bernard) Julian.
Tara was a vibrant and enthusiastic Mi’kmaw Woman
with a laughter that came from the heart. Her open and honest heart
meant that she was always willing to help anyone who crossed paths
with her. She gave so much of herself even when she herself
wasn’t able to give. She spent much of her life
and energy helping her people in a personal and professional
way. Having a career in the area of employment allowed her
to reach out to people who may not have reached out for
themselves. Her career in employment began as a Native
Employment Officer for Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation and then as a
Project Manager for the Lukwaqn Project that worked on addressing
barriers to employment. This project provided her with the
opportunity to collaborate on proposals under the Skills Link Project
that provided employment opportunities for members of her
community. Even in her latest position with MBK group, Tara
was just beginning her work on recruiting First Nations People for
various employment positions.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her life partner,
Johnny Izzard; daughters, Leila, Clair Marie, and Justine and her son,
Stirling; sisters, Juliana Julian (Mario George) and Alicia Julian;
Gail Marshall and brothers, Jay Julian (Leanne Googoo), Colin Julian,
and Kolipie Julian, all of Paqtnkek; ceremonial sister, Molly Peters,
and brother, Jamie Spence; Godparents, Victoria Lafford and Andy Gill;
and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by many friends, her lifelong BFF,
Sherry Ann Googoo, and her Trent and IWCL
family.
Predeceased by her brother Stanley Julian, maternal
grandmother, Mary (Joe) Bernard; and paternal grandparents, Theresa
(Battiste) Julian and Freeman Julian.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 28 after 5pm at 19
Mug-A-Sun Road, Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation. Funeral
Mass will be held on Wednesday September 30, in the Immaculate
Conception Church, Heatherton, at 11:00am, with Reverend Andrew
Gillies presiding. Social distancing protocols must be
followed at all times, and masks are mandatory at both the visitation
and funeral.
Although, Tara was not here for a very long time she impacted
so many lives, always going above and beyond for anyone. All
that she had done will have a ripple effect that will last beyond our
years.
Feast and Salite to follow funeral mass at the Paqtnkek
community complex.
