Obituary
Sydney Reginald Chen-See was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on September 22, 1926, and he was born to eternal life in Calgary, Canada on December 15, 2020.
He left Jamaica to study in the US where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech. Sydney then worked for the Caribbean Cement Company in Jamaica where he rose from clerk to become Managing Director. He was also Managing Director of the now-defunct Caribbean Steel Company. For his contributions to business, the Jamaican government awarded Sydney The Honour of the Order of Distinction (Commander), and The Honour of the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander (CD). In 1976, Sydney immigrated with the family to Canada. For a short time, he worked for Carl Nickle. He next worked for Alberta Energy, now Encana, where he retired as the Assistant Corporate Secretary.
Sydney married Icy May in 1952. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in November. Together they have 6 children: JoAnne (Andy), MayLynn (Harry), Ardis (Dan), Glen, Hugo (Lorraine), and Fei Min (Don). They have 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his family, Sydney is also survived by his sister Arlette, of New York City, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces in Jamaica, Canada, Britain, and the United States.
