Obituary of Stephen Laycock
Stephen Lawrence Laycock, fondly known as Lorrie, a long-time resident of Dawson Creek, passed away from a lengthy illness, with family and friends by his side on Monday, February 3, 2020 in the Dawson Creek hospital at the age of 79 years.
Lorrie was born in Turtleford, Saskatchewan on July 6, 1940 and moved to British Columbia at a young age. He started school in Williams Lake and also attended school in Lillooet and Squamish, BC where he had fond memories of growing up, fishing and riding the railway with his dad, who was a railway engineer.
Lorrie will be fondly remembered as a truck driver in the oil patch and for his hobby of fixing up cars.
Lorrie was predeceased by his 6-year old daughter; Delores in 1973 and his parents; Stephen Frank and Ethel (Gemmell) Laycock.
Lorrie is survived by his daughters; Christine Vanderkroft, Annette Laycock and Elka Levesque, sister; Roberta (Bill) Carson, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Lorrie’s Life was held in Summerland, BC with close family on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. Interment will be at a later date.
