MacLeod, Sophia “Sophie” Belle of
Summerside PEI passed away peacefully on Wednesday July
1st at the MacLeod South Shore
Villa.
Sophie was born in Bungay, PEI on October 11, 1917. She was
the daughter of the late Mary and Bruce MacQuarrie and the wife of the
late Joseph MacLeod.
Sophia is survived by her 4 children, Effie Locke, Wendell
(Barb) MacLeod, Katie Welling, Robert (Velda) MacLeod. She is also
survived by her grandchildren Jeff (Tina) Locke, Sherry (Jim) Kinney,
Joey MacLeod (Angela Rose), Tracy MacLeod (Dave Waldie), Chris (Tasha)
MacLeod, Karen Welling (Perry Statler), Greg Welling, Gary (Silvina)
Welling, Rachael (Dwayne) McNeill, Bobby (Shannon) MacLeod, sisters,
Inez Smith, Lorraine Wheatley, Gracie Rogers, 15 Great –
Grandchildren, 5 Great- Great- Grandchildren, as well as several
nieces and nephews.
Sophia was predeceased by her biological father Russell
Graves, brothers Charlie MacQuarrie, Raymond MacQuarrie, Walter
MacQuarrie, Harold MacQuarrie, Sheldon MacQuarrie, Roland MacQuarrie
and sister Mary Ellen “Mae” Farrish. She was also
predeceased by 2 infant sons as well as Granddaughter Tammy Lackey and
son in law Norman Welling.
Sophia lived her entire life on Prince Edward Island. In her
early years she worked at such places as Prince County Hospital,
Parkman’s Cabins, Clovie’s Restaurant, The Silver
Fox, Shaw’s Hotel, and retired from the Linkletter
Motel.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington. Due to
current restrictions, interment will be held in Hartsville
Presbyterian Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations
can be made to the charity of the donor’s
choice.
