Shirley Lorraine (Daly) Clarke

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Lorraine (Daly) Clarke, age 92, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
Shirley was born in North Sydney on May3, 1927 and was raised by the Herridge family.
She is survived by her sons, David (Nan), Shaun (Charlene), Tony (Cathy), Jamie (Jacqui) and her daughter Lynn (Richard), her 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Conrad (Bish), nieces and nephews.
Besides her adoptive family, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Clarke, brother-in-law, Howard Clarke (Ella), sister-in-law, Margaret MacDonald (Francis).
Shirley worked for many years at Seton Elementary School and volunteered at the Northside Community Guest Home for over 30 years.
There will be no visitation or funeral service by her request. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.
There will be a celebration of Shirley’s life for friends and family on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 64 Regent Street, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
