Obituary for Mrs. Sharon Barnes
Sharon Ester Kathleen Barnes (Bateman)
Sharon passed away suddenly at home on Monday, April 6, 2020, in her 71st year. She was happily married to Bob Barnes for 45 years, until his death in 2013. Together they raised their two children Steven Barnes (Lisa) and Angelia Barnes-Simmonds (Rob). Bob and Sharon enjoyed making a home in Belleville, Ontario and travelled frequently to visit their grandchildren and family. Sharon loved being a grandmother to her three grandchildren: Trent and Reid Simmonds, and Daxtan Barnes. They remember her with love and will greatly miss spending time with her. She made a career of raising her own children and provided care for other children in the community. Additionally, she worked as a Personal Support Worker for the Red Cross. Sharon was active in Girl Guides of Canada and was recognized for her many years of service. In recent years Sharon moved to Innisfil to be closer to family living in Barrie, Ontario. She continued to maintain close contacts in Belleville and will be fondly remembered by her many family members and friends. She is survived by her brothers George and his wife Blanche, Ron and his wife Pat and her brother-in-law Carl Hayward, who was married to her sister Linda (predeceased). Also predeceased by her loving parents Kathleen and George Bateman. She will be cherished by her many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in Springbrook, Ontario. A celebration of her life will take place in the summer when circumstances permit. In honour of her memory donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
