Sarah Pauline MacMillan, age 85 of Little Judique passed away peacefully on January 19, 2020 at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Pauline was a member of the Catholic Women’s League of St. Peter’s parish, Port Hood, she was an active volunteer in her community who canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association and the Canadian Cancer Society for many years. She was socially active and loved a good game of cards, bingo and all types of music. She kept in touch with her family and friends on social media and enjoyed following her grandsons hockey online. Pauline lived life to the fullest and took great pride in her appearance. She was a classy lady, independent and strong. Pauline was well known for her Cape Breton wit and great sense of humor. Those who shared her company were always guaranteed a good laugh.
Loved by her two daughters, Geraldine and Darlene, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, neighbors, family and friends; she will be dearly missed especially by her two great grandsons Casey and Jacob who she adored, her longtime friend, Annie MacMillan and neighbor Mary Tracy. Pauline will be remembered for her kindness and generosity toward others.
Pauline was the daughter of Dan Lawrence and Mary Christi MacDonald. She is survived by her daughters; Geraldine MacInnis, Sherwood Park, AB and Darlene (Terry) Braun, Calgary, AB. Grandchildren; Megan, Ryan, Cameron, Noah and Owen. Great grandchildren; Casey and Jacob. Siblings; Leonard (June) MacDonald, Port Hood, Barb (Joey) Landry, Antigonish, Gerard (Elizabeth) MacDonald, Judique and Donalda Picco.
Pauline was predeceased by her husband Donald Martin, her son-in-law Joe Alex MacInnis and siblings; Marg, Irene, Donald Bernard, Laurence, Burt, Hughena, Cathy, Mary Annette and Sandra.
We are forever grateful to mom’s many friends and family who supported her during her illness, with a special thank you to Marion MacIssac. Mom’s medical team of doctors and Central Inverness Palliative Care; Dr. Ritter and Lori Ann MacDonald for her unwavering support. Dr. Seliba, the oncology staff and nurses for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. Wake, Mass of Christian Burial , to be announced at a later date. Donations in memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Central Inverness Palliative Care or a charity of your choice.
