Sandra ‘Sandy’ Marshall
1955-2020
Sandra “Sandy” Jessie (McGibbon) Marshall,
1955-2020. It is with great sorrow that the family of Sandy Marshall
announce her sudden passing in New Glasgow on January 13, 2020, due to
an undiagnosed heart condition. Our family sends out heartfelt
gratitude for all the love and messages received in these trying
times.
Sandy, 64, was a loving wife, proud mother, amazing
grandmother, and true friend who will be sadly missed by both her
family and friends. Sandy, the fifth of seven children to Charlie and
Millie McGibbon, was born and raised in New Glasgow, but spent many
wonderful years in both the Annapolis Valley and Cape Breton.
Following a career in nursing, Sandy retired with her husband Dave to
the beach at Chance Harbour, a special place where she made many fond
memories and lifelong relationships. Sandy spent her time on the
lookout for treasures to work into crafts, playing in the sand with
her three granddaughters, getting to the gym, curling up with a good
book, or enjoying time with friends and family. Although Sandy was a
fairly private person, she always shared her heart openly with those
she cared about and was fiercely loyal when it came to family. Though
Sandy was taken from us all well before her time, we cherish the
moments that we shared and always keep a special spot in our hearts
for her warm embrace and loving smile.
Sandy’s passing was preceded by her father and
mother, Charlie and Millie McGibbon; mother and father in-law, Anne
and Bill Marshall; and brother in-law, Robert Marshall. Missing her
dearly are her husband, Dave Marshall; children and grandchildren:
William Jason Marshall, wife Tamar, daughters Nola and Edie, of
Kentville; and Stephanie Anne Marshall (Steele), husband Tristan,
daughter MacKenzie, of Donkin. Also surviving Sandy are her six
siblings, Nancy and Steve Carpenter, Bill and Helen McGibbon, Sue and
Rick Bowden, Barb and Brian Lane, M’Ellen and Harry Mathers,
Blake and Celine McGibbon and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Friday, January 17,
2020, at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave, New Glasgow. A
celebration of life service will be held at 4 pm Friday, at the
Trinity United Church, 151 Temperance Street, New Glasgow, and will be
followed by a reception for all. A private family interment will be
held in the summer. Family flowers only. Donations can be made in her
memory to the Aberdeen Health Foundation.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sandra ‘Sandy’ Marshall 19552020..
