Obituary
The family of Sandra Rowden are sad to announce that on Saturday November 14, 2020, she passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mom was fortunate to have formed many great relationships with not only the students she taught but all the great staff at all of the schools she was able to work at over her many years of teaching in Prince Albert.
She loved to stay connected even after her retirement when she rarely, if ever, turned down an opportunity to substitute teach.
Mom was extremely proud of her 3 boys and sacrificed all she had to make sure we were well equipped to play every sport imaginable, travel and continue with our educational opportunities. She was even more proud of her 6 wonderful grandchildren and will continue to watch over them as they move through their own lives.
Mom loved all of her nieces and nephews and even though she wasn’t able to stay as connected to everyone as she wanted, they all had a special place in her heart.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Dorothy Sterling; and her in-laws, George and Vivian Rowden. She will be laid to rest near them at the Shellbrook Cemetery at a later date.
Mom will be missed by her husband of 49 years, Stan Rowden; her sons, Trevor (Erika) Rowden and children, Conor and Shea; Jeff (Jill) Rowden and children, Alexi and Mason; and Shawn (Rhonda Meakin) Rowden and children Grace and Rhett. Mom is also survived by her sister June (Don) Moe whom she loved very much, and I know she was so very thankful that they got to spend so much time together.
We would like to thank Dr. Martin, Dr. Hopkins, their team and all of the health care staff who wrapped mom with their love, kindness, respect and unwavering commitment. We would also like to thank all those who played such a critical role in making sure Mom was able to live her final moments in the community of Shellbrook where she was born and raised.
Mom had so many close friends that it would impossible to name them all. Stan and the boys would like to thank everyone who was a friend to Mom and want you to take comfort that she is in a better place now.
