William Samuel (Sam) Murtland May 20, 1923 – April 17, 2020
Sam was in his 97th year when he was called home to his final resting place. Sam, a lifelong resident of Cheapside is where he built his family with his beautiful wife Jennie (Erwin) (d), and had three children: Martha (d) (Bruce Roulston), Mary Ruthann Forseman, and Thomas (Dana). He was a cherished grandpa to his grandchildren Kerri Murtland, Andrea Roulston, Michael (Alyssa) Roulston, Samuel Forseman, Christopher Forseman, Deanna Forseman, Anthony (Keri) Campus, Debra Campus (d), Vincent Campus, and Dominick Campus, as well as 18 great-grandchildren. Brother of Martha (Moyer) Wells. The foundation and growth of his family did not stop Sam from continuing with his hobbies — working on lawnmowers, gardening, and all the neighbourhood chats. The door was always open for anyone to visit or even a quick hello or beep from passers by. A man of many talents and jobs throughout his life. Cooking was his passion, and after retiring it did not slow him down. He still did his passion of cooking for many and loved to tell all those stories of all the experiences he endured throughout his life. His love and knowledge has been passed on through his family and friends. His legacy was his family and will continue to make him proud, passing his torch to the next generation. A private visitation was held with Interment at St.John’s Anglican Cemetery. A public gathering to celebrate and remember his life will be held at a later date.
