At the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Frank Astley. Dear sister of Margaret McColl of Toronto. Predeceased by her brother Lorne McColl (late Winifred) her cousin Arleen Benn all of Kingston and by her step-daughter Cynthia Gillen (Alan). Loved aunt of Ruth Dobson (the late Rocky), David McColl (Susan), John McColl (Barb), Ann McColl (Greg) and their families. Also remembered by Frank Gillen, Ian Gillen (Linda), John Gillen (Debbie), Scott Gillen (Rose), the late David Gillen (Pat), and their families. Ruth had a lifelong desire for learning and was a true conversationalist who could interact with anyone. She loved travelling and Opera, was an active member in the Ottawa Kiwanis Club but above all she took most pleasure in her family. As per her wishes, an interment will take place in the spring in the family plot at Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston.
