It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother and friend, Rose Marie King, of Evanston, Nova Scotia on December 25, 2020. Rose was born in Portugal Cove Newfoundland October 30, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Annie Beatrice and Richard Picco.
Rose is survived by her best friend and soul mate Dennis King; children Michelle Thibeau (Jack) Port Hope, ON; Ron Thibeau Port Hawkesbury, NS; Tanya McChesney (Kenneth) Evanston/Afton, NS; Step-children Shelly Samson (Vaughn), ON; Cora LeBlanc (Billy) Isle Madame, NS; Jamie King (Amanda) ON; Daniel King, NS: Daisy her beloved dog; cats Phantom, Precious and Buddy; Goddaughter and niece Darlene Foote (Dean), NL; Special friends Marie, Linda and Eleanor; 13 step grandchildren; two great step grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband Constable Andrew Ronald Thibeau, RCMP; sister Joan Burry (Frank); brothers John Picco (Louise); Gordon Picco (Dorothy); Harold Picco; Gregory Picco; Nathan Picco all of Newfoundland.
Rose was a quiet person that always put her family, friends, pets and animals first. She was known for looking after any stray cats or dogs that showed up at the house, and in many cases taking them in. Rose’s house was the local treat stop for any dog out for a walk that needed a little treat or a drink of water. Rose could always be seen some time during the day out for a drive with Dennis and little Miss Daisy; looking for a deer, partridge, rabbit or anything moving. She loved nature and did her part to take care of God’s little creatures.
In her spare time she liked doing puzzles with family, going for drives and she enjoyed Michelle’s omelets. Christmas was an important season for Rose and she always wanted to make sure everyone knew how much she appreciated them throughout the year.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday January 17th at Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury from 2:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday January 18th at 11:00am at Saint Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Lower River Inhabitants, Father Duncan MacIssac officiating; Interment in the parish cemetery.
Special thanks to Dr. Cooper and Sarah Touesnard of Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society, all the nurses of the Strait Richmond Hospital, family and friends that delivered meals and those special people that have been there for the family.
