Rong Zi Kuang 2020

Rong Zi’s Obituary
Surrounded by family and in peace, Rong Zi Kuang passed away at the Canora Hospital on November 8, 2020, at the age of 100 years.
Rong Zi was born on September 10, 1920, in a small village in Taishan County, Guangdong, China. During the war year, he worked hard for his family. At the age of 21years, he met the love of his life, Ai Lian Chen. They were married in China in 1939. With love, they raised four children, eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Together, they shared the theme of ‘love’ with their family and made it the legacy they built their lives on.
As a young man, Rong Zi was a professional carpenter. He contributed his whole career to the shipping industry of his motherland. He loved to do his work. After retiring, he continued to make furniture for the family.
Rong Zi immigrated to Canada in 1987. He first resided at Langenburg, SK, and then relocated to Winnipeg, MB. In 1994, with his family, he moved to Canora, SK, where well into his 90’s, he enjoyed working at the family restaurant. Without speaking a single word of English, he still served coffee to customers, who simply enjoyed his smile and comforting disposition.
In his spare time, Rong Zi loved to read the newspaper. He would often be found sitting by the window, reading and checking out cars.
Family is what Rong Zi treasured most throughout his life. Undoubtedly, he adored his grandchildren and treasured his time with them. As he loved his family with all his being, he made every effort to support them in any way he could. He will be remembered as a strong, hard-working, loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rong Zi was predeceased by his parents, Li Jin Hao and Jing Xiu Kuang; his beloved wife, Ai Lian Kuang; and his son-in-law, Sonny Yuen.
He is lovingly remembered by his sons: Pan Shih (Lee Yee Li) Kuang and Pan Wei “Raymond” (Yu He Tan “Betty”) Kuang of Canora, SK; daughters: Wan Hua Kuang (Yi Shi Wang) of Calgary, AB and Amanda Yuen of Winnipeg, MB; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Jonathan), Tommy, Calvin, David (Sabrina), Angela, Freda, Susanna, and Benjamin; and her great-grandchild, Keira Yun.
The Funeral Service was held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac, officiating.
