Ron was a heavy-duty mechanic by trade and also worked in the trades field in many parts of Canada – as a mechanic, plumber, painter and a carpenter. Before retirement he was the Superintendent of Maintenance at Northern College. Once he left Northern College, he became Superintendent of Maintenance at Payukatano. During his retirement, he constructed several beautiful items such as cabinets and kitchen islands, for his wife and other family members. In addition, Ron was extremely interested and involved in local politics and served as Town Councillor in Moosonee, MPS School Board, president of the local Lion’s Club, president of the Moosonee Metis Association and a board member of the Ontario Diabetes Association. He so enjoyed doing good for others and kept his family extremely busy volunteering with him. After his retirement, they moved to Windsor and lived out a lifetime love of horses. It was so wonderful to see him looking after his beloved horses and becoming great friends with them. He and his wife loved going up in the field having a fire and having his horses line up behind him enjoying the fire also.
