Obituary of Ronald Henry Hartley
Ronald (Ron) Henry Hartley, beloved father of Cathy and Andrew of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the age of 77 years.
Ron worked as a Journeyman Electrician, and later in life he really enjoyed his position with the Corps of Commissionaires. He loved crosswords – especially the Globe & Mail or cryptic crosswords, the harder, the better. He loved puzzles of any kind, math, & black coffee – especially at Phil’s restaurant on 16th Ave. NW.
He not only leaves behind Cathy (Jon), Andrew (Sean) and Linda Hartley; but also his only granddaughter, Sarah. Ron is also survived by is younger siblings Lyndon (Sandy) Hartley, Ann (Moe) Knopp, along with Elsie Hartley (Jim) ; nieces & nephews, Norma, Donna, Allan, Darren & Kim.
He was predeceased by his Father Barney, his mother Laura, and his older brother Ernest.
Ron will be missed dearly by his family along with the family of Bow-Crest Care Center. The family would like to thank all the staff and care givers at Bow-Crest, and his doctor, for their incredible dedication, care, and love for Ron.
There will be a public Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 28th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m at the Irish Cultural Society Center, 6452 35 Ave NW, Calgary. Please join the family to share your memories of Ron.
In lieu of flowers for the family, please send a thank you or tribute to the 2nd floor staff at Bow-Crest Care Center for the incredible care Ron received over the past 4 1/2 years. 5927 Bowness Road NW, Calgary.
