Obituary of Ronald Green
GREEN, Ronald Joseph
It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Ronald (Ron) Joseph Green,
surrounded by his loving family, on July 11, 2020 at The Brantford General Hospital, in
his 87th year. Beloved husband and best friend of 66 years to Enid. Cherished father of
Shirley (Dillon) McCarthy, Liz (Colin) Sutherland, Linda (the late Jay) Spicer, and Rick
(Dianne) Green. Ron is survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-
grandchildren, his brother Terry (Betty) Green, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron
is predeceased by his parents Willard and Evelyn Green.
Ron was a lifetime member of the Brant Naval Veterans’ Association, past member of the
Army, Navy, and Air Force Club and past member of The Knights of Columbus. He
joined the Brantford Men’s and Mixed Dart Leagues and the Brantford Cribbage League
and played for many years. After his retirement from Massey Ferguson he took great
pleasure in being a School Crossing Guard, spoiling the children with small treats. Ron
and Enid looked forward to planning their many travel excursions, with some of them
being with the gang from The Navy Club. Camping was the ultimate enjoyment for him,
so they joined The Brantford Sundowners Camping Club which offered fun activities,
friendship and created lasting memories. The Saturday night block parties were his
favourite because it gave him a chance to bring along his 3 string guitar and serenade the
neighbours.
A heartfelt thank you to Seasons Brantford Retirement Home staff for their amazing care
and support over the years; to the PSW’s for your understanding when Ron was having a
bad day; to Henry of Wound Care for your kind, gentle approach to Ron; to Melissa of
LHIN for the guidance given to Ron and his family; to the Doctors and nurses at the
Brantford General Hospital for their professional care and compassion during his battle;
and to those who made it possible for Dad to have bedside prayers by the priest when we
saw the end was near.
Private Funeral Mass to be held at St. Mary’s Parish, Brantford, interment at Mount Hope Cemetery to follow.
